CS Medical is always looking for ways to make infection prevention and control easier and more effective for our healthcare professionals. In an effort to reduce the amount of time they must spend reprocessing transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) ultrasound probes, our scientists and engineers have developed the TD 200® Automated TEE Probe Disinfector with TD-12® AquaCide® High Level Disinfectant.
The TD 200® is a revolutionary, FDA cleared TEE probe disinfector which cuts the time it takes to high level disinfect a probe nearly in half, going from five minutes down to three minutes. Additionally, because of the new chemistry being used in this device, the TD 200® only needs to rinse TEE probes once after high level disinfection, completing the entire disinfection and rinse cycle in about ten minutes. This makes for incredibly quick turnaround and helps your facility handle a higher volume of procedures per day with less time wasted in disinfection
What makes this all possible is the new chemistry being used within the TD 200®: single use TD-12® AquaCide® High Level Disinfectant (HLD). TD-12® AquaCide® is a peracetic acid based HLD, which is extremely effective at disinfection, but comes in a powder form, minimizing the risks of exposure of IPs to toxic HLD fumes. And to further minimize this risk, the TD 200® comes equipped with a chemisorptive bonded carbon filter which captures any fumes generated during the HLD process. Additionally, after a high level disinfection cycle, TD-12® AquaCide® is safely discarded down the drain and does not require any special disposal procedures.
With all these benefits, some may wonder if the new chemistry is as effective at eliminating bacteria from probes as TD-8 and TD-5 are. Users may rest assured: testing revealed that after routine clinical use, soiled TEE probes were disinfected in the TD 200® and in all cases, there was a complete kill of all microorganisms. You don’t have to sacrifice effectiveness when you make the switch over to the TD 200®.
Some other features offered by the TD 200® are very helpful in ensuring your facility is working smarter and not harder. After every cycle, the TD 200® prints a verification report containing the date, time, disinfectant lot number, disinfectant contact time, average disinfectant temperature, and both operator and probe IDs. These reports can be stored in the TD 200 Log Book in case of an audit. The TD 200® can also be installed with a 5 nanometer water filter, ensuring that the water used to rinse a disinfected probe is free from contaminants and will keep the probe disinfected.
The TD 200® plays an important role in helping your facility automate more routine tasks. Because the TD 200® seamlessly works with the TEE Complete Care Process, standard operating procedures (SOPs) can be easily implemented and followed through with at your facility. Both automation and implementation of SOPs are critical in reducing the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). At the end of the day, all the developments and benefits of bringing the TD 200® to your facility frees up time for your staff to focus on what really matters: helping patients get and stay healthy.
